Tips To Cite References In Chicago/Turabian Citation Format

Chicago and Turabian Citations styles are not the same but identical. Basically, Turabian style can be seen as the easier Chicago citation format. Below are a few points that you need to understand while citing in Chicago format.

  • The citation format (whether author-date or notes-bibliography) depends on the subject area and type of research you are doing. In any case, complete citations are made in two locations.
  • In author-date format, the in-text citation has no comma in between the author and date. However, in case the page number is added, then there has to be a comma between the page number and date. For example, (Author’s Name(s) Date, Page No.).
  • In notes and bibliography, the note will mention the author's name, title of the work, publication, year of publication, and page number. As for the detailed information, the bibliography will be given too along with the same information with the author's last name coming first.
